Shell Tameer Awards is a nationwide competition, to recognize, celebrate and reward young talent making significant contribution in the national entrepreneurship space.
The 8th Shell Tameer Awards took place on the 18th of September at Shell House, Karachi. The hybrid event allowed families, friends of the finalists and Tameer academic partners to join in virtually as the event was livestreamed across two digital platforms.
This year’s Awards were thoughtfully planned to achieve the key objectives of attracting the best national entrepreneurial talent, leveraging technology to enhance the outreach with effective digital and PR efforts to engage key stakeholder from industry, academia and incubators.
This year, the competition invited applications across 6 Award categories around Clean Energy, Women Empowerment, Technology Innovation, Circular Economy, Transport & Mobility and Bright Ideas.
The competition attracted 125 young start-ups and ideas that were rich in innovation and addressed social challenges faced by our society today. After a rigorous shortlisting process by an independent panel of experts, 20 finalists were shortlisted to compete in the final event.
These top 20 entrepreneurs received one-on-one mentorship by Shell LiveWIRE’s international consultants DAI, to enable them to deliver investor winning pitches.
The Tameer Awards was a half-day event, that began with the top 20 finalists presenting to a panel of industry experts, 6 internal and 9 external, from across various sectors like Unilever, KE, UBL, Careem, NIC KHI, Finclude, Stimulus Pvt Ltd. The panel selected 6 winners and 6 runners-up across 6 categories.
To announce the winners, the formal awards closing ceremony was held at the end of the day. The hybrid event was attended by 50 key stakeholders in person and over a 100 virtually attended the livestream through Shell Tameer’s Facebook page and a leading digital media platform ‘Pro Pakistani.
The ceremony featured a panel discussion on ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s Role in Shaping the Future of Pakistan’,Moderated by a prominent media celebrity, Sidra Iqbal, the panel comprised renowned industry leaders including Haroon Rashid – CEO Shell Pakistan, Amir Paracha – CEO Unilever, Inam ur Rahman – CEO Dawood Hercules, and Humayun Bashir – Chairman National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL).
During the 45 minutes discussion, the panelist enlightened the audience on the opportunities and challenges faced by today’s entrepreneurs and shared some valuable thoughts to help entrepreneurs excel in their businesses, within the national and global entrepreneurial space.
Her believe in the power of leveraging technology to improve lives translated into Pakistan’s first ever subscription based female taxi service She’Kab, technology platform that connects female riders to drivers.

Adding to Amir Paracha’s comment, Haroon Rashid – CEO Shell Pakistan said “Innovation and solutions must also be based on skill, market, and opportunity to survive and thrive in today’s competitive climate”.

In his keynote address, Habib Haider – Head of Corporate and External Affairs – Shell Pakistan Limited congratulated the winners and expressed his excitement on the quality of the ideas presented to the Jury.
He also assured his further support through Shell Tameer’s platform to contribute even more towards a sustainable and socially responsible entrepreneurial ecosystem in Pakistan.
The evening drew to a close with networking hi-tea for the finalists, judges, CEO and media.
